Remote work has been recently a new trend in modern society. Now it even becomes an essential point to prevent the spread of the pandemic. Some people fear that working remotely will make them disconnected, but don’t worry, this article will give you some online tools to help you stay connected, productive, and happy. With the support of these effective online tools, you can do more than just have a meeting with your partner or learning online, you can even do the virtual internships and fully experience many new things in the host country.

1. Slack

It would be that best idea to use Slack for the works that involve complicated email threads with attachments. Slack is a communication app. You set it up for a specific group or project. Within each group, you can channel messages by type. A channel is a chat room based on a project, topic, or purpose. You can create a General channel, a Feedback channel, or a channel for each project. All related communication gets added to the channel, including posts and files. Moreover, you can send real-time messages and posts. You can even organize the documents in an easily searchable way. Slack offers many functions, including easily editing and searching messages.

What makes slack far superior to a private Facebook group? The answer is that there are many apps that integrate with Slack. Google Drive is one instance. When integrated with Google Drive, Slack helps you access the documents through a simple link without access to your Google Drive to read it. Don’t worry when the documents get updated in Google Docs because the file automatically syncs with the file linked through Slack. Google Hangouts is another instance. Seeing or sharing the screen with a Slack member is pretty easy when you connect Slack with Google Hangouts.

2. Zoom

Professionals from around the world highly recommended the Zoom app for meeting online because of its best audio and video transfer rate, quality, and instant sharing tool. Now, let’s explore why we should use zoom for online meetings.

Zoom is incredibly simple for everybody to use. All you need to do when you want to talk to a remote colleague is download zoom, click it, set it up, and join or create a new meeting. Users can use zoom flexibly across desktops, mobile devices, and room systems. It will help them gather quickly anytime and anywhere. Although zoom is simple to use, it provides all the enterprises- level; features that make online training, video conferences, and virtual meetings much more connected and proactive.

One of the most interesting things about using zoom is that we can divide participants into smaller rooms so they can discuss in more detail about the topics. For example, in follow-ups of the culture sessions about “Vietnamese lessons”. It was very convenient to assign local buddies into small groups with our students to teach some simple greetings in Vietnamese. After all of us came back to the main room, we were really astonished about how effective the breakout room was. The international students had a fun time learning, and they performed what they had learned from our local buddies very well.

The break-out room is also very competent when we hold some games for students. Each break-out room is a team to discuss and find out the answer to the questions. It was so fun when we came back to the main zoom and saw how each team performed their answers.

3. Google Meet

Like Zoom, Google Meet is so easy to use and easy to invite people. Since Google upgraded Hangouts to add a phone number option, it's possible to use it with everyone, regardless of someone's firewall settings.  We are able to stay connected with the employees and business partners when working remotely. The most incredible thing about Google Meetings is that we don’t have to pay subscription fees or maintenance fees. If we face any issues with the software, we can find plenty of support in the Google portal and other blogs.

Moreover,  we can make the integration with your Google account, generate the virtual meeting from our email, calendar, etc. Making presentations becomes easier with the share screen function. Google Meet has a very clean and simple interface that can be used very easily in a professional setting. It has great quality in transmitting, voice, and video output.
